Talisker 10 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled on the Isle of Skye (Talisker Distillery). It’s matured for a minimum of 10 years — mostly in ex-American oak casks — and bottled at 45.8% ABV. Part of Diageo’s Classic Malts range, it’s known for a maritime and smoky profile, with strong coastal influence, moderate peat, and warming spice.
Tasting Notes:
- Appearance: Burnished gold with warm amber tones; good clarity and medium viscosity.
- Aroma: Sea-spray salt and brine, peat smoke, fresh apple and pear, vanilla sweetness, hints of citrus and warm caramel.
- Palate: Rich and full; malted barley, peppery spice, dark dried-fruit sweetness (raisins, brown sugar), coastal smoke and a touch of warmth from oak.
- Finish: Long and warming; smoke fades slowly, leaving pepper, brine, salted caramel and lingering peat embers.
- ABV: 45.8%
Serving Suggestions: Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open up its layers. Use a tulip or Glencairn glass to concentrate the aroma. Excellent with smoked salmon, shellfish, hearty seafood chowders, or roasted meats. Also pairs nicely with dark chocolate or blue cheese for contrast.
