The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Balvenie Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. It spends around 12 years aging primarily in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, then is finished for about nine months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks to add richness and complexity. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Rich amber-gold with warm tones; medium-legs that hint at its oak maturation.

Aroma: Sweet fruit (dried apples, pear), honey, vanilla, and nutty almonds, overlaid with softer sherry and toasted oak spice.

Palate: Smooth and mellow; layers of nutty sweetness, caramel, gentle cinnamon and oak spice, with hints of dried fruit and vanilla sliding into sherried richness.

Finish: Long and warming; lingering oak and spice, with a touch of sweet honey and fruit, becoming lightly dry.

Serving Suggestions:
Best enjoyed neat to appreciate its delicate wood finishing. Also good with a drop of water to open up the sherry notes. Can work in whisky cocktails like a Scotch Old Fashioned or a Rob Roy where its fruity-vanilla and oak character can shine. Use a Glencairn or tulip glass to enjoy its aroma.
