Lagavulin 16-Year-Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Islay region of Scotland, distilled with heavily peated barley and matured for 16 years in oak casks, including ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels. It is the flagship expression of Lagavulin distillery, known for its bold smokiness balanced by rich sweetness and maritime character. This whisky is celebrated for its depth, complexity, and the way age tempers its peat to reveal layers of flavour—making it a benchmark dram among aficionados.
Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Deep amber gold, with rich burnished tones.

Aroma: Intense peat smoke, iodine and seaweed; undertones of dried fruit, vanilla, leather and warm oak; subtle spice and salty air.

Palate: Full-bodied and powerful—whiskey enters with rich dried fruits (fig, apricot), melds into layers of smoky peat, oak, sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, and warming spice. A touch of salinity and roasted malt carries through.

Finish: Long, warming and enveloping. Smoke, oak and peat linger, with sweetness tapering into salted caramel, spice and ash.

Serving Suggestions:
Neat or with a couple drops of still water to unlock hidden aromas. Use a large whisky glass, room temperature. Excellent with strong blue cheeses, smoked meats, rich dark chocolate desserts. Also suitable for contemplative sipping around a fire.
