Rooiberg Blanc Natural Sweet is produced by Rooiberg Winery in the Robertson wine region of South Africa. It is made from 100% Muscat de Frontignan grapes, chosen for their aromatic and floral profile. The wine is styled as a natural sweet white — relatively low in alcohol (around 9.7-11% ABV) and high in residual sugar (roughly 40-50 g/L). Its moderate acidity gives it enough freshness to balance the sweetness, making it appealing as both a dessert wine and a relaxed sipping wine.
Tasting Notes:
- Appearance: Pale golden yellow with a bright clarity and slight viscosity
- Aroma: Rich aromas of Muscat—grape skin, orange blossom, floral notes—with tropical fruits (mango, pineapple) and a touch of honey
- Palate: Sweet fruit-driven entry; juicy tropical flavours, ripe pear, soft stone fruit; sweetness is prominent but keeps from cloying due to balancing acidity
- Finish: Smooth and lingering; honeyed fruit lingers, with a clean sweetness and floral aftertaste
- ABV: ~ 9.7-11%
Serving Suggestions:
Serve well chilled (about 6-8 °C) to enhance fruit and floral aromatics. Great on its own, or paired with fruit-based desserts (fruit salad, tarts), creamy puddings, or with mild cheeses. Also works nicely with spicy or sweet-savory dishes that can match or contrast the sweetness.
