The London No.1 Original Blue Gin is distilled in London using a neutral grain spirit from English wheat. It is made in small batches by Charles Maxwell at Thames Distillers. The gin uses 12 botanicals, after which it is macerated with gardenia flowers to impart its signature pale turquoise-blue colour. It is bottled at 47% ABV.
Tasting Notes:
-
Appearance: Very pale turquoise-blue, luminous and striking in the glass.
-
Aroma: Fresh juniper, vibrant citrus peels (lemon, orange), warm spice (cinnamon, cassia), bergamot offering a perfumed, tea-like note; herbal nuances (savory) and soft floral hints.
-
Palate: Clean and elegant; juniper remains central, balanced by citrus zest, warmed spice, a touch of liquorice sweetness, and subtle earthy/herbal layers.
-
Finish: Long and warming; lingering spice and pine, some citrus echo, herbal tones, with a slightly bitter but refined edge.
-
ABV: 47%
Serving Suggestions:
Enjoy this gin neat or with a large ice cube to appreciate its botanicals. It shines in a gin & tonic using premium tonic water and a twist of lemon or orange. Also excellent in cocktails that benefit from citrus and spice — for example, a Gin Martini, Negroni, or a more contemporary twist using bergamot or Earl Grey syrup to accent its aromatic qualities.
